5 Tricks to boost the speed and performance of your Android mobile

Are you frustrated with a slow and lagging Android mobile? If your Android phone frequently undergoes paralysis or gets a fever even in the simplest tasks, we have listed out some tricks to help you improve the performance of your Android mobile. Just follow these simple stepwise tricks to make your mobile more agile!

1.Give it some space

Your mobile needs some memory space to be at its optimum speed, both in its RAM and internal storage. But as we go on adding new files and applications, this space is consumed and after an extent, the space is too low to function appropriately.

The signs of trouble!

If you notice a low storage notification, it is the best warning of low free memory. You may also verify this usually by going into settings >> storage and check the space used in internal storage. A free space less than 500 MB is a sure sign of trouble!

(The method of accessing the storage screen depends on device and you may use the search bar within settings to find storage setting easily.)

How to solve it?

It’s easy! Just go in your file manager then open internal storage. Now you can sort the files in ascending order of size, then go from top to down, looking for extra files that you don’t need and deleting them.

If that doesn’t release enough space, you should uninstall or disable the extra apps that you don’t usually use or can use on its website easily. Usually you just need to go your app launcher through the home screen, then long press the app icon and tap on uninstall or disable.

The easy way

You may also go for cleaning apps to free RAM and storage with one tap. This is indeed more convenient than manual removal, but such apps can take a lot of space themselves.

Moreover, if you don’t adjust their settings carefully, they can delete important cache or stored files, causing data loss or slow startup of apps.

Hence, memory freeing apps are easy-to-use and debatably effective, but must be used with care. Also, large size cleaning apps or those taking excess permissions should be avoided.

2.Check for infections

A common cause for unexplained slowdowns, heating and data usage can be infections from malware such as adware, bloatware, botnets or Trojans.

How it happens?

Such malware usually appear like other popular apps which are downloaded and installed by users from unsafe sources. They then upload your information, download and display advertisements randomly on your screen, start background process that overload your processor.

A rooted mobile is more susceptible to serious malware attacks which cannot be removed even on formatting the mobile.

How to solve it?

Most malware can be removed by antivirus software available on playstore. Just install a trustworthy antivirus, run a scan and follow its instructions to uninstall the malware and remove other risky files or .apks from the device storage.

On advanced infections that generally occur on rooted devices, you may need more powerful antivirus software that may require root permissions themselves. Root based antiviruses can generally find and weed out the malicious software and files. However, this may not always work and in the worst case, a firmware change may be needed to solve it.

Prevention is better than cure

Make sure you install apps from trusted sources like Google Play Store and always check their permissions carefully before installing, as apps requiring too many permissions may be malware. Also, if your mobile lags a lot as soon as you install an app, uninstall it immediately!

3.Don’t ask for too much!

A common reason for lagging and overheating is the use of apps that require high end devices on mobile with low specifications. This generally applies to high graphics games or other resource-intensive apps.

The solution?

Check which application is causing the lag and try to use a speed booster (cleaner app) before you open it. If this doesn’t help, go in the app’s settings and lower the graphics. If that still doesn’t work, you can move to alternative apps that are better suited to low end mobiles.

It’s best avoided

To prevent such issues, it is best to check the specifications of your mobile and compare it to the requirements of the game to make sure that your device can handle it.

For this, just go into your device settings >> device info, then match it with specifications listed in the app’s description within the app store that you used.

Moreover, if the application isn’t listed on the Play store app on searching on your device, it usually means that it isn’t compatible with your device. On browser search, it may also show a notice about incompatibility.

4.Stay updated!

When did you last update your applications and Android software? Updates bring optimizations and higher performance, so you must go for updates as soon as possible to get the best performance.

Software update

Go in Settings >> Software Update >> Download and Install. Make sure you have enough battery to complete the download and restart process that's required for update installation.

In some devices the software version update option is under "About phone" option.

Application update

Just, go in Play Store and tap on your profile image then updates, then tap "manage apps and device" and tap on "updates".  You will now get a list of updates available, where you can update specific apps or update all. If auto-updates are enabled in the "settings", you wouldn’t need this step.

5.Try some tweaks in developer options

You can speed up animations and limit background processes in developer options to free RAM and speed up animations of your device’s interface.

How to get there?

Go into settings >> about phone and then long press or repeatedly tap on build number till you see a float notice that developer options are enabled. Now return to the first settings screen and tap developer options.

Raise transition speed

In developer options, you will find animation and transition speed options which you can tap on and select higher speed such as 1.5X or 2X. This will make all default animations faster, such as quicker switching of apps, menu screen transitions, notification animations and popups.

Limit background processes

Then, you may scroll down to the limit background processes option and limit the number of background process as per your choice. If you prefer multi-tasking, you may prefer to keep the limit higher.

So, try out the above tricks and tweaks and enjoy a speedy and responsive Android device!
